How to Connect Your Flashed Router Wirelessly to an Access Point
Previously, our routers required an Ethernet cable to connect to other access points. This was necessary to ensure high Wi-Fi speeds. However, with our latest software and hardware upgrade, we’ve introduced a new feature that allows you to connect your Flashed Router (such as Travel Mate) wirelessly to any access point!
Steps to Connect Your Flashed Router Wirelessly:
Connect to the Router’s Wi-Fi
Begin by connecting your device (phone, laptop, etc.) to the router’s Wi-Fi network. Look for a network like Casper-2.4ghz or the specific name of your router's network.Access the Router Control Panel
Open a web browser and enter the following URL: http://my.flashedrouter.com. This will bring you to the router’s control panel.Navigate to Wi-Fi Settings
Once in the control panel, open the Wi-Fi Settings section.Scan for Available Access Points
Using your phone or laptop, scan for available Wi-Fi access points. These will include networks like Hotel-WiFi, Cafe-Guest, etc.
Important: Make sure you type the SSID (Wi-Fi network name) exactly as it appears, as it is case-sensitive.Enter the Password
Input the password for the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to.Apply Settings
Once you've entered the correct SSID and password, click Apply Settings. The router will now connect to the selected Wi-Fi access point.Continue Using Your Router
After connecting to the access point, you can use your router as usual. You can connect to a VPN server, your home tunnel, and continue working securely.
Additional Tips:
Disable Other Wi-Fi Profiles
To avoid unwanted connection hopping, we recommend disabling any other Wi-Fi profiles on your work laptop. If multiple profiles are active, your laptop might jump between networks, which could lead to location leaks and affect your privacy.Restore to Default Wi-Fi Settings If for some reason the wireless connection did not work. You can always restore your default Wi-Fi settings by clicking on the button that says "Restore Default"
Only 5ghz Wi-Fi Will be Accessible After establishing the Wi-Fi bridge, only 5ghz Wi-Fi will be available to connect to on the router. This is meant to keep the Wi-Fi speed as max and used the 2.4ghz one for the bridge.
By following these steps, you'll be able to wirelessly connect your Flashed Router to any access point with ease and maintain a fast, secure internet connection!
